Akash Sharma – Founder of The Chhapai | Entrepreneur Story & Brand Journey

Akash Sharma is the founder of The Chhapai, a direct-to-consumer clothing brand based in India.

His journey didn’t start in fashion. Like many, it started with a job.

With a background in software development, Akash began his career in the IT sector and later worked with platforms like HomeShop18. That phase helped him understand how online businesses actually work — from products to customers to systems.

But the real shift happened in 2018.

That’s when he launched his first venture, Chappai.com, focused on printed mobile covers. It was a small start, but it introduced him to the world of e-commerce and digital selling.

Then came the pandemic.

Supply chains broke. Growth stopped. The business couldn’t continue the way it was.

Instead of quitting, he experimented.

In 2021, with just ₹10,000, Akash started Kapdewala — not as a big brand, but as a learning ground. It became his way of understanding what people actually want in clothing, beyond trends and hype.

Those learnings led to something bigger.

The Chhapai.

Akash Sharma founded The Chhapai with a simple idea — fashion should not just be worn, it should be felt. Instead of chasing fast fashion, the focus was on building a brand that stands for expression, identity, and meaning.

Alongside building his brand, he also works across multiple digital skills.

From coding and website development to graphic design and SEO, Akash handles the core of his business himself. He has also worked as a freelance digital marketer, helping businesses grow through search and strategy.

What makes his journey different is the approach.

No external funding. No shortcuts.

Just building step by step, learning from the internet, and turning ideas into real products.

Today, Akash Sharma continues to build The Chhapai as more than just a clothing brand — as a platform for self-expression for the next generation.
